Dr. Sara Reed

For more than 20 years, I have studied, practiced, taught, and coached leadership, not as a title or a set of techniques, but as a craft.

I’m a leadership development architect, keynote speaker, ICF-certified coach, scholar, and retired military officer. I have led people and organizations through complexity, change, growth, and transition across the military, higher education, public service, and other mission-driven environments. Today, I bring those experiences together to help leaders think more deeply, act more intentionally, and create workplaces where people can do meaningful work and thrive.

My keynotes and workshops explore the human side of leadership: how leaders build trust, navigate change, shape culture, strengthen relationships, and remain grounded in who they are when the path ahead is uncertain. I combine research and practical experience with thoughtful questions, relatable stories, and tools leaders can use long after the session ends.

My work is also deeply personal. I’m a wife, mom, veteran, cancer survivor, avid reader, and lifelong student of leadership. I know what it means to lead through demanding seasons, to reassess what matters, and to keep learning along the way. Those experiences have deepened my commitment to helping others grow with greater clarity, courage, and care.

Through Elevating Leadership, I design leadership experiences that connect ideas to practice and learning to meaningful action. Here, I share what I’m reading, thinking, writing, and speaking about as I continue exploring what it means to lead well.

Read deeply. Live thoughtfully. Learn intentionally. Lead differently.

Interested in bringing me to your organization for a keynote, workshop, leadership program, or coaching engagement? I’d love to start a conversation.
